Singapore has been an active player in the Venture Capital Industry among Asian countries. By establishing itself as a regional financial hub, Singapore has promoted the growth of the local VC industry. The Singapore Government’s open door policy has nurtured and given the impetus to the Venture Capital Industry in Singapore. Due to supportive government policies and strategic reasons, cash rich large corporations and government boards have set up VC funds in Singapore.
 
Aiming at being a vibrant and robust knowledge based economy, Singapore Government has formulated many incentives and established institutions to boost technological advances. The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) set up in 1961,acts as a catalyst and facilitator to nurture a vibrant, self sustaining enterprise ecosystem, a conducive total environment for start ups and companies of all sizes.EDB works with other agencies and institutions to promote innovation and develop human, intellectual, financial and cultural capital in Singapore. It helped Multinational and domestic companies to enhance and upgrade to higher value creating operations across manufacturing and internationally traded services in a knowledge driven global economy. The Government through its agencies sets up venture capital funds to invest in businesses. These funds invest directly in startups and they also invest through venture capitalists.
 
 
Bio One Capital Pte Ltd is a subsidiary of EDB Investments and dedicated to investments in the Biomedical Sciences industry. Biomedical Sciences (BMS) plays a very important role in the economic development of Singapore. Key sectors of interest are therapeutics and therapeutics services, medical technology and healthcare services.
 
 
Infocomm Investments Pte Ltd (IIPL)
Infocomm Investments Pte Ltd (IIPL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and was incorporated on 13 November 1996, under the name of NCB Holding Pte Ltd. IIPL changed to its present name on 9 June 2000.IIPL's aims to use its equity investments to support IDA's industry development efforts to develop a globally competitive Infocomm industry in Singapore.
