Stone Summer Theory Institute

Stone Summer Theory Institute will arrange a topic specific conference on college education. The current theme of this conference is: What Do Artists Know? The international event brings together the best theorists on college-level art education, including the MFA and PhD holders. The Stone Summer Theory Institute conference will have some public events such as evening lectures and roundtable discussions. This year’s conference will focus on three themes: the pertinent histories of art education, the current content and philosophies of art education around the world at all levels and the current state of theorizing on what artists know in society and outside the educational framework. The conference is open to a selected number of scholars who will assess the roundtable discussions and compile a series of books. Like The Art Seminar, the Stone Summer Theory Institute conference is an attempt to record a new kind of art theory that is theorizing the visual art.
