Entertainment and Media in Singapore has witnessed strong growth in the last decade. Singapore's media sector consists of TV broadcast and production, publishing and printing, film, music and interactive and digital media.
 
Interactive & Digital media which includes video games, animation, online/mobile media and other new forms of digital entertainment is today a multibillion dollar business. According to Price Waterhouse Coopers Global Entertainment & Media Outlook the worldwide videogames industry is expected to swell from US$41.9 billion in 2007 to US$68.3 by 2012.The fastest growth would be in Asia.
 
In Singapore the animation and games industries is witnessing a boom. Many International media companies such as Koel, Lucas Film, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft have established base in Singapore. Domestic companies like Mikoishi, Peach Blossom Media and ST Electronics have also produced original content for export and have entered into strategic partnerships with International distributors.
 
A Centre for Producing New Content
Since Singapore has the best Intellectual Property protection in Asia, it is one of the favorite destinations for companies wanting to create and deploy new content. Singapore has a huge pool of IT graduates, attracting development and animation studios and companies which are in the business of game hosting.

Singapore is well connected to regional markets that have demand for digital media entertainment. As a cosmopolitan city state, it offers a blend of Eastern and Western culture.

Since the beginning of 1990's Singapore has seen a number of global broadcasters setting base. Some of the prominent broadcasters are BBC Worldwide, CNBC Asia Pacific and ESPN Star Sports.

Being a global financial centre, it is relatively easy to source funds in Singapore. There is significant amount of funds available for media projects and companies, in the form of private capital from banks, financial institutions and strategic investors.
